Which agents come as standard with my Microsoft 365 Copilot licence?
The paid licence includes Researcher, Analyst, Facilitator, Interpreter, the Sales Agent and the Word, Excel and PowerPoint agents. The coaches — Prompt, Writing, Idea — are free for every Copilot Chat user, even without the add-on.
Which agents can I use without a paid Copilot licence?
The coach agents (Prompt, Writing, Idea) are free for anyone with Copilot Chat. Other agents can run on a consumption basis (pay-as-you-go), so you need not buy a full licence for everyone.
What is the difference between Researcher and reasoning mode in chat?
Researcher independently builds a research plan, consults work and web sources and delivers a report with explicit citations. Reasoning mode is a conversation without that structure. Rule of thumb: need a report? Researcher. Need a sparring partner? Chat.
What is the Frontier programme?
The early-access programme that lets organisations with a Copilot licence try new agents before general availability. Handy for staying ahead, but features may still change — we advise on what to take into production and what not.
How do I choose which agent to deploy first?
Start with the work, not the agent: where is the volume, repetition and measurable quality? For knowledge workers, Researcher and Analyst are the fastest win; for meeting teams, Facilitator; for sales, the Sales Agent. In a working session we prioritise on impact.
